The Vary Kaye class Outreach Shuttle is a civilian smallcraft.
Description
This vessel is awarded to successful participants in the Vary Kaye multi-level marketing scheme. So-called "Independent Operators" are assisted by the ship's brain and Model/2 ship computer, enabling continuous conversational analysis, scripted interaction support, and behavioral optimization. The briefing facilities and common areas reinforce the smallcraft's primary function of a mobile presentation environment, while the automation systems quietly manage tone, pacing, and next-step recommendations during interpersonal exchanges. The Vary Kaye promises comfort, visibility, and continuity of contact.
For these reasons and more, including the standard pink hull coloration (officially because it serves as an identifier: just its being in port - where it is highly visible - can reduce the merchants' trust that the Third Imperium runs on), some Subsector Dukes have issued seize-or-destroy-on-positive-identification orders for this class, citing its interference in free trade. The following is one such proclamation.
Proclamation 217-1102-C On the Suppression of Systemic Commercial Fraud In the interest of preserving the time-honored commercial traditions cherished across our worlds, let it be known that the continued operation of vessels of the Vary Kaye class has resulted in demonstrable harm to interstellar commerce, disruption of legitimate trade, and the erosion of contractual confidence within the Duke's demesne. Investigations conducted under the authority of the Office of the Subsector Duke, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and representatives of the Imperial Interstellar Commerce Authority, have established that vessels of this class are purpose-built and awarded as instrumental components of a recurring fraudulent enterprise commonly presented as a "distributed sales organization". Such enterprises have been shown to rely upon systematic misrepresentation, the deliberate exhaustion of participants' capital, and the subsequent relocation of operators across multiple systems to evade redress, thereby exporting economic harm throughout Imperial space. Accordingly, vessels of the Vary Kaye are hereby reclassified within this subsector as inherently engaged in hostile commercial activity. Effective immediately: Any vessel positively identified as belonging to this class is subject to interdiction, seizure, and forfeiture. Any such vessel refusing inspection, attempting flight, or operating without explicit Imperial warrant shall be treated as a hostile actor. Subsector Naval and Patrol forces are authorized to employ all necessary measures, up to and including destruction, to prevent the continued operation of these vessels. This order is issued in defense of free commerce, the stability of trade routes, and the protection of Imperial citizens. It shall remain in force until such time as the Duke determines that the threat has been conclusively abated. Issued under my hand and seal, Dagalu Kiinlarsuush Rikhummi, Duke of Perite In the 1102nd Year of the Imperium
