Description

No information yet available.

History & Background (Dossier)

Emoress is home to the more or less permanent conference known as the Conclave of Emoress. The Conclave provides a significant portion of the port's income. At any given time there may be representatives from various small states, mercenary forces, corporations, popular insurgencies and any other group that might be worried about the Lords of Thunder. A surprisingly effective joint intelligence task force is operated by the Conclave, which pays well for accurate and timely information about K'Kree activities as well as general information on their society.

World Starport (St)

Emoress has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • There is an associated Naval Base.
  • The shared Highport is impressive for this part of Gateway but is looking run-down. It was built by the Megusard Corporate as part of a plan to expand trade in the region. This didn't go as intended and after a couple of decades the backers pulled out. The nations of Emoress sold some of the equipment they inherited, leaving parts of the port uninhabitable.

World Population (P)

Emoress has a population of 30,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Urbanization

What little useable land there is forms archipelagos and a couple of large islands. Each is a distinct political as well as geographical region with its own downport.

World Technology Level (T)

Emoress possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)

Emoress has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law (L)

Emoress has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
