The Tashaki of Retinae (Spinward Marches 0416) are a Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance and technologically developing sophonts.

Description (Specifications)

Tashaki are a mysterious alien species indigenous to Retinae (Spinward Marches 0416). A silicon-based humanoid species whose life cycle depends, as does all life on Retinae, upon heavy amounts of radioactive materials in the atmosphere.

A silicon-based humanoid species whose life cycle depends, as does all life on Retinae, upon heavy amounts of radioactive materials in the atmosphere.

The entire ecology is alien to this world, and appears to have been transplanted here around 600,000 years ago. The Tashaki do not seem to have any individual characteristics, though no evidence exists for a hive mind or telepathic linkage. The Tashaki communicate through phosphorescent "eyes" on their bodies (which is where the world takes its name) that can be translated by computer software.

These lifeforms rely upon high radiation levels to support their biological systems. The Tashaki are silicon based lifeforms who communicate by producing colored flashes of lights through silicon "retinal" nodes located in their skin. These can be translated by computer, and communication with them is relatively easy.

Psychology & Philosophy

The race appears to rely upon a communal intelligence, as they do not differentiate themselves as individuals, or separate genders.

Social Organization

The race appears to rely upon a communal intelligence, as they do not differentiate themselves as individuals, or separate genders. When first contacted in 377, they were still locked in a primitive pre-industrial period, and an Imperial Research Station was eventually established to study them. Over the last three centuries they've taken greater notice of their neighbors technological prowess, and have slowly advanced to post-industrial levels.

Government & Politics

The Tashaki are ruled by a charismatic "Divine Lord" whose power seems to reside in its manner to communicate to the rest of the species.
