These weapons would often lie in wait in stealthy silos, only to erupt and spray death when enemy foot soldiers enter their assigned kill box. Unfortunately, friendly soldiers without working IFF transmitters were also occasionally taken under fire. Another problem is that proximity to EMP from nuclear strikes would often cripple their recall and disarm over ride circuits. On several worlds it took years to account for all the crawling death bots. Rumors of units scattered indiscriminately by mercenary bands, lying dormant and ready to strike persist to this day.
