The 271st Fleet serves the Third Imperium.
The 271st Fleet is the Numbered Imperial fleet serving the Third Imperium stationed in the Rure Subsector .
Description (Specifications)
Overview: This fleet is unusual because of its size and composition. There are seven HUGE squadrons of mostly light cruisers. Most of the hulls are inexpensive planetoids, packed with as many heavy nuclear-tipped missile batteries and the largest spinal mounts they can carry and power. The swarm of meson armed ships was hoped to be able to overwhelm smaller numbers of larger ships of the line. Refueling operations can present some problems for this fleet and the combat vessels are limited to jump 3 drives. This fleet is primarily seen as a defensive screening force and optimized for firepower and not strategic mobility.
