Gesentown is the moon of a huge brown-dwarf gas giant, which dominates a system possessing only two rocky planets and no planetoid belts. Gesentown was built for the elite Consular Guard, a Zhodani military formation representing the very best armed forces the Zhodani Consulate can field. The Guard maintains this forward base close to the Imperium in order to counter any threat form that direction, while situated away form civilian centers. The Consular Guard’s commander answers only to the provincial council of Iadr Nosobi, and is separate from the naval command at Cronor.

Gesentown has a trace atmosphere and the little amount of surface water is in a frozen state. The system has a population in the millions, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors. It is a member of Zhodani Consulate in the Cronor Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Province of Iadr Nsobl. This world supports a Zhodani Military Base and the system supports a Zhodani Naval Base.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Gesentown is a binary star system.

 • Both are red main sequence stars.
Gesentown has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Gesentown is the moon of a tiny (by the standards of stellar objects) Y-type Brown Dwarf.

 • The Brown Dwarf has a similar diameter to a large gas giant but has exponentially more mass.
 • It dominates the primary star's system, which contains only two rocky planets.

Gas Giant Moons 12d.jpg

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Gesentown is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Gesentown has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Gesentown has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.

 • The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
 • Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a small amount of the icy outer shell exposed.
 • Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

IISS GURPS Astrographics Survey[edit]

0303 Gesentown (Zhodani)

Starport: Class IV - Naval Base, Consular Guard base.

Diameter: 1,529 miles (2,400 km).
Atmosphere: Trace oxygen-nitrogen.
Hydrographics: 5%.
Climate: Very Cold.
Population: 8,045,000.
Government: Military Rule.
Control Level: 5.
Tech Level: 10.
World Trade Number: 4.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

In the Zhodani Consulate this world is known as Zhdienshdo.

This world is a base for a large contingent of the elite Consular Guard and its position is somewhat unique as a result. The CG units based are not apart 12th Fleet's command structure and answer directly to the Subsector Council on Cronor. This arrangement indicates that this force was intended, during the long Imperial-Zhodani conflict, to prevent "cultural infection" of colonial governments and the local military structure by outside Imperial influences. Despite the relaxation of tensions with the Imperials, this garrison remains in place and has been increasingly vital in the face of the Zhodani Exodus.
