Xea is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- It is a member of the Hive Federation in the Kobol Subsector of Langere Sector.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- Less than 10% of the population is composed of Hivers.
- Almost 100% of the population is composed of baseline humans.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Xea and nearby Qah share a root culture; both support a Human population under a military government. The people of Xea are more discordant and also less trusting of outsiders.
World Starport[edit]
Xea has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Naval Base.
- A small, unobtrusive security force is drawn from the most suitable members of the local militia and stiffened with navy regulars.
- The density of ancillary buildings around the downport means that it is not a good place to build Hiver nests; settlement near a Hive Federation port favours a world's non-Hivers. These communities are difficult to build into predictable social models.
- Ships are subject to mandatory anti-larval fumigation before leaving, to kill any infant Hivers that might have gotten aboard. Hivers are distressed by the notion that a larva might find itself achieving sapience in an environment absent adult Hivers and suitable nests.
World Population (P)[edit]
Xea has a population of 90,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The vast majority of the population is Human.
World Languages[edit]
- Hiver Sign Language
- Gurvin
- Human locals will typically speak Gurvin augmented with a pidgin of local languages and Ithkluri, to provide ambiguity and metaphor lacking from the standard Gurvin vocabulary.
World Technology Level[edit]
Xea possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government[edit]
Xea has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
Specifically, this world is under military rule.
