The SK-3 class Lifeboat is a TL–15 non-combatant dedicated Life Boat.
Description (Specifications)
The SK-3 is a fairly standard design for a small lifeboat, usually attached to passenger carrying vessel. This ship holds 4 seated passengers and four emergency low berths for 4 more. The boat is designed to be operated by someone who has no experience with operating space craft, by automating many of the ship functions. All of these functions can be over-ridden through use of the proper override codes.
Usually the lifeboat is attached to a larger ship, with the airlock marked clearly, though sealed to prevent accidental entry. If the lock is opened, the boat begins an automated launch sequence, sealing the lock after five minutes or upon detection of loss of pressure or one of several other emergency issues on the parent vessel.
The ship contains a fair quantity of survival gear to allow the passengers to survive in the case of emergency landing on a habitable, though uninhabited world.
