Desh is a low-population garden world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- It is a garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most forms of sophontic life.
- Both the population and economy of this world are expected to grow in the near future barring outside forces.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Nabile Subsector of Bourne Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
System Data
Bakan-Desh System
The primary is Bakan, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum inner world, (II-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (II-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld. (III) Desh orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (V) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (VI) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VII) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VIII) a ringed very large gas giant, and (IX) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(III) Desh
(III) Desh is designated the mainworld. It orbits Bakan at a mean distance of 0.59 AU (88.3 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 168 days 23 hours and a rotation period of 21.5 hours. The axial tilt is 24 degrees. Desh has a diameter of 9,328 km, a density of 5.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.71 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.89 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen, 22% oxygen, and 1% argon, water vapour, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 70% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 25°C. The atmosphere is active and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans drive across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellite
Desh retains a single natural satellite, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Cal:
- (IIIa) Cal (UWP Y200000-0, orbiting at 25 Diameters/230,000 km)
Mainworld geography and topography
Total surface area: 273 million km², Water surface area: 191 million km², Land surface area: 82 million km².
Native lifeforms
Desh has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Desh has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level
Desh possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government
Desh is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
