The rank of Brigadier (O7) is the senior-most field grade commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Marines and commands a Brigade or Regimental Combat Team or larger or oversees multiple Regimental Combat commands. A Brigadier is generally in overall command of all Marines assigned to a Numbered Fleet or Task Force.
Description (Specifications)
Each Brigade in the Imperial Marines and many Mercenary and those few Huscarle units of this size will be commanded by a Brigadier. Several staff posts at Subsector level or higher are also held by Officers with this rank.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Navy is Commodore.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army GFC is Brigadier General.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army NFC is Sea Commodore.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army COACC is Air Commodore.
Note that there are very few Imperial Marine Brigades, and thus this rank is as often a staff rank as it is a field rank. The appointment to this rank attracts the title of Knight [1].

The word "brigadier" derives from the same root as the word "brigade" but the precise origin of "brigade" is obscure. However, the title is meaning The general officer who commands a brigade.
