Zaankhid is a vacuum world, with a complete lack of atmosphere. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Khandi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Zaankhid, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Egkhu.

Zaankhid is a member of the Sylean Main. The naval base hosts elements of the 206th Fleet.

Zaankhid has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Zaankhid is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Zaankhid has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Zaankhid houses the subsector's main naval base. It a training and reserve center, keeping many mothballed vessels on Tanner-IX, the outermost moon of the system's only gas giant. The main naval base is on Jenner, the sixth moon of Tanner.
History & Background (Dossier)
There are a small number of prospectors working the asteroid belt mid-system. Many naval personnel can be found here on leave taking in some entertainment at one of the small, independent space ports. Even through the civilian population within Zaankhid is small, the presence of the Navy has ensured good supplies of the necessities, and even cheap second-hand naval equipment.
