Yashodhan has a scarcity of water and a relatively sparse atmosphere. The system has a population in the 10s of millions of sophonts. It is a Human dominated Non-Aligned world in the Yashodhan Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector. This world supports a Military Base and the system supports a Naval Base.

History and Background[edit]

This is a world of numerous nations and no interstellar allegiance, and the only independent world in the Empty Quarter's Delta Quadrant to possess its own Naval Base. Indeed, there are several such facilities within the system, owing allegiance to various political powers on the mainworld. While a number of the major political powers on Yashodhan seek admission into the Third Imperium, the Imperial Diplomatic Corps has recognized that supporting any particular power would most likely turn the others against them, and increase the likelihood of Yashodhan military forces looking towards the Imperium rather than internally. While the IDC waits for the political situation to resolve itself, several larger corporations have not, and are investing in facilities on the border world in an effort to pursue research and production beyond the jurisdiction of the Imperial Bureaucracy.

Majestic Lines.jpg

Majestic Lines, based out of Niketan (Empty Quarter 2434) in Udusis Subsector, services this world. Operated on subsidies from the Third Imperium and the various world governments of Yashodhan Subsector, Majestic Lines fields a small fleet of recently constructed Jump-5 subsidized merchant vessels and liners to extend trade into this relatively isolated subsector.

World Government[edit]

The system is home to several independent naval bases, funded by various planetary powers. While the Imperium has avoided bringing any planetary nation into the Imperium, some large interstellar corporations are now heavily involved in local politics.

Historical Data[edit]

Yashodhan and Irash (Empty Quarter 2036) established solid trade links during the pre-Dawn era (-200s Imperial).

Yashodhan led the Yashodhan Democracy, a small interstellar state that successfully resisted Imperial power for many centuries. It consisted of the Yashodhan (Empty Quarter 2635), Selka (Empty Quarter 2536), and Niketan (Empty Quarter 2434) systems.

The Yashodhan War (63-67 Imperial) was a victory for Yashodhan and the newly-founded Yashodhan Democracy over the Third Imperium: the Imperium was not willing to commit the forces needed to win, and after local forces were defeated in the Battle of Yashodhan (64 Imperial) a negotiated peace was made.

Yashodhan invested greatly in the Imperial boom, and lost big in the bust. As the Democracy dove into internecine conflict, the Imperium struck like lightning, destroying most of the Yashodhan Navy in a single battle in 390. The interstellar Democracy was dissolved soon afterwards.
