The Trakii of Trakiini are a technologically sophisticated Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance. They were in the last days of their civilization as the Third Imperium rose.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Trakii were aerial carnivore hunters native to Trakiini (currently D'Artur), a large world with a dense atmosphere.

Physiology and ecology[edit]

The Trakii are winged bipeds with tough leathery skin. The skin stretched to form their wings is equally tough but does not heal easily. They are very large, measuring 5 meters from snout to tail, with a wing span of 10 meters. Like most fliers, they are very light for their size, with hollow, honeycombed bones. Their senses of sight and hearing are superior to human, whereas their senses of touch and smell are inferior. They are extremely long lived; their average life span is 500 standard years, with some individuals reaching an age of 1,200 standard years.

Language[edit]

Very few offworlders spoke Trakii language, not only because of the rarity of Trakii but because any socially significant use took a tremendous amount of time. Trakii spoke as they thought; slowly and with great patience. Few wanted to listen closely for so long, nor were Trakii willing to absorb entire communications in mere minutes. Computer translators were available, but these did nothing to close the gap in perceived time.

Despite the communication problems, one Human -- Georgeapolitra Hermenicine -- famously joined with a Trakii -- Numoultingdag -- in the production of two critically acclaimed films. To find a Dragon and a Human speaking frequently was remarkable. To discover that they actually collaborated was nearly beyond belief.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Trakii society has a recorded history of over 200,000 years, making them one of the oldest and longest lived societies in charted space. Two events have driven this society into a severe decline. In -1037, and over the next two centuries, Trakiini was hit by a wave of twelve very severe asteroid impacts. The resulting destruction killed more than 70% of the population and destroyed much of their technology and society.

In the early -400s the first of the abominations began to appear. These Trakii are savage, cruel, uninterested in communication, amd wanton cannibals. They never cooperate and often die as a result. The frequency of these abominations as a percentage of overall births is still increasing, further causing a decline in the population.

The remaining Trakii have become resigned to their fate, as the last few generations of a dying race. Their world is littered with the ruins of their once great society.
