Commodore Dhoerr Knurroe commands a small mercenary Naval force. Major Garek serves as second in command with Captain Marc Tukera as his third officer and aide de camp. Combat hulls for the company consist of whatever is on hand. Knurroe is a former naval fighter ace who can handle anything from a 6 ton stub fighter up to medium size starships with aplomb. Knurroe prefers to hire specialists such as Navy and Scouts for ship assignments and combat hardened marines for boarding actions.
- The most apparent patron for SPI is Arcon Lines with occasional work for Oberlindes Lines for anti-piracy operations.
- SPI was last known to be operating in the Regina Subsector in the classic era 1105.

SPI is a thinly veiled cover created to have quasi-legal standing. The cause for this less than fully legal status is the fact that the Shionthy system is an interdicted Red Zone. The mayor of Socrates Station signed the contract with SPI for general anti-piracy patrols and direct action. The contract also gives SPI law enforcement powers and search and rescue operations responsibility.
- SPI has numerous predecessors throughout history when actual military personnel are not on hand in an area where danger to the public exists and people on hand have to take independent action.

125-1103 Mayor Hank Salmans Signed a contract with SPI to protect the area around Socrates Station from a vicious band of Vargr Pirates. During the initial contract which was intended to last 30 days, the Mercenaries conducted patrols, search and rescue operations and convoy protection operations which improved the quality of life in the community. The improvement was so beneficial the community pushed for a new contract with SPI. As of 1105 SPI contracts have been renewed without a break in service and has been recognized by the local imperial navy task force commander.
