Shikirmi has a reasonable system economy despite the component parts being small enough to be insignificant. The arrival of new players can cause some upset from time-to-time but overall, the system's internal politics are self-regulating. Everyone needs everyone else and cooperation generally benefits all involved.
Imperial High / Landed Nobility[edit]
Shikirmi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Shikirmi is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
- The people are scattered in many small communities. A loose Council for Cooperation and Mediation (based at the highport) handles most disputes; beyond this, simple economics governs the system. The settlements on Shikimi, as well as a significant belter population and various commercial installations scattered around the system, are all represented to the Council, which acts as a collective bargaining association.
