Peset is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and nonindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • They require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets have very few prospect for economic expansion.
  • It is a member of the Rimward Federation in the Orret Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
  • This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]

Djinn-Peset System[edit]

The primary is Mardok, an ordinary red main sequence star with a luminosity of 0.0334 Sols, a mass of 0.4574 Sols, and a diameter of 711,000 km. (I) a standard atmosphere hospitable world orbits within the habitable zone. (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) the Peset Main Belt, designated the mainworld, (IV) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (V-I) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (V-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (VI) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(III) Peset Main Belt[edit]

(III) the Peset Main Belt orbits Mardok within the outer system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.65 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 100 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.43 AU from the star and the outer edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of icy bodies, is considered to lie at approximately 0.87 AU. The main inhabited body is named Peset Prime, with a mean orbital distance of 0.52 AU around Mardok and an orbital period of 202 days 12 hours. It has a long axis of 440 km, a density of 2.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.009 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: -92°C in sunlight, -175°C in shadow.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Djinn-Peset System[edit]

The temperate hospitable world lying in orbital position (I) (within the habitable zone) has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. The fauna native to the world are considered to be extremely dangerous.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

World starport[edit]

Peset has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level[edit]

Peset possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government[edit]

Peset is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World military[edit]

Fleet Assets include: 8 Peset Class Asteroid Monitors as per the Rimward Federation entry.
