Neghu Oug is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Vargr sophonts located in the The Narrows Subsector of Corridor Sector.
- During the Long Night this world was named Dinassi.
- It is the homeworld of the Ojehshodu, a sophontic species and minor race.
- About 60% of the population is composed of the Major Race, Vargr.
- About 40% of the population is composed of Ojehshodu.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
This system is part of the Windhorn's Edge Trace.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Neghu Oug is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Neghu Oug has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Neghu Oug has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Native Sophont: Ojehshodu[edit]
The Ojehshodu are a race of large, aquatic mammals, unsuited for life on dry land -- very little of which exists on ocean-swathed Neghu Oug.
- The technologically-unsophisticated Ojehshodu readily submitted to foreign rule when the Vargr arrived; even today, their contributions to the planet's administration are practically invisible.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Rule of Man established a research scout base to study the Ojehshodu, but it was abandoned.
- The system has subsequently been considered part of the Vargr Extents, albeit right on the Third Imperium border.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Neghu Oug has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Neghu Oug has a population of 6,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Demographics[edit]
World Government (G)[edit]
Neghu Oug is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Neghu Oug has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Neghu Oug possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
