All five systems in the eponymous subsector are claimed by the Hegemony of Lorean. These worlds form their own quiet sub-cultural region within the Hegemony, undisturbed by outsiders due to the rift at their trailing-rimward flank.

Maaguukud has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair.
