Lome is either a vacuum world or one with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population between 100 million and a billion sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Lamas Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Lome, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a marquis and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Lome is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Lome has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Lome has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Lome has always been a contentious planet with its six nations. Despite this, the states of Liithel and Mahad, old rivals for centuries, had never directly fought until 1121, having relied on covert operations before.[2]
Lome has been a longtime powderkeg world. A handful of states controls the world's rich aluminum and titanium mines, and have used the profits from this bounty to create a comfortable lifestyle for themselves. The other states must subsist on the remittances of contract workers sent to toil in the mines. This arrangement, and the vulnerability of the mining industry to disruption, effectively prevents the poorer states from seizing the mines for themselves. But it has not prevented them from building up sizeable military arsenals as a means of intimidating the wealthier states. Saber rattling is the main form of diplomacy on Lome, and the populations of the various states are accustomed to speaking to each other in a language of threats, insults and accusations. Offworlders are also subject to this kind of abuse, and there exists a long history of violent "incidents", usually brawls, between the locals and visitors.
