Lhshami is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world located in the Caledon Subsector of the Reaver's Deep Sector.
- The planet is the homeworld of the Lhshana, a Minor Race.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
This is often considered a trinary system, as the primary, Hsmeilha (spectral class G0 V) has a dwarf companion in its first orbit, named Shleihsi.
- The far companion is Ekhana, spectral class M4 V.
Planetary System: Primary: Hsmeilha
- Eleven major bodies.
- One inhabited world (Lhshami, the sixth planet).
- Dwarf companion in close orbit (Shleihsi)
- No gas giants.
- No planetoid belts.
Mainworld Data[edit]
- Mean orbital radius: 324.63 million kilometers (2.17 AU).
- Period: 696.5 days.
- No natural satellites.
- Density: 0.98 standard.
- Mass: 0.123 standard.
- Rotation period: 19 hours, 17 minutes, 10 seconds.
- Axial inclination: 25° 47' 44.6".
- Albedo: 0.41.
- Surface atmospheric pressure: 0.95 atm. Composition is an oxygen-nitrogen mix with oxygen imbalance.
- WARNING: HIGH OXYGEN CONTENT CAN CAUSE OXYGEN INTOXICATION. Filter masks are advised for atmospheric breathing.
- Hydrographic percentage: 70%; composition, water and frozen water-ice.
- Mean surface temperature: 5° C.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Lhshami is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
- Specifically, mean surface gravity is 0.49G.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Lhshami has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- There is a significant oxygen taint.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Lhshami has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Native Sophont[edit]
Lhshami is home to a sophont race. The Lhshana are small (1.2 metres in height), trilaterally-symmetrical beings with tentacular appendages over each of their three legs.
- They are generally passive, contemplative, and rather fatalistic in nature.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Unlike the Yn-tsai of Tsanesi, the Lhshana people are definitely native to their world, and their evolution and history can be traced with some confidence.
The pre-civilized ancestors of Lhshana were enslaved by the Saie (and much of what is known about that race is derived from oral traditions of the Lhshana, distorted over the centuries into a body of folklore and mythology). They received a considerable boost in civilization thanks to Saie technology, and also absorbed knowledge from Reaver spacecraft which visited the world during the Long Night. When first contacted by Caledonian merchants, the Lhshana had a flourishing tech level 9 civilization, though they had no knowledge of (and little interest in) space flight.
World Starport[edit]
Lhshami has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population[edit]
Lhshami has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
- The population consists of Lhshana.
World Technology Level[edit]
Lhshami possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government[edit]
Lhshami is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Culture[edit]
While representational arts are all but unknown among Lhshana, their touchstone sculpture techniques produce items in high demand on other worlds. These crystals are shaped by the thought process of the artist in a very concrete, non-abstract manner.
