Khusgulur is an industrial world with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. The world has a colony on Serusi (Dagudashaag 2625). This is a cold world with an overall climate at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Gadde Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Khusgulur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This is the homeworld of the Morlock, a Variant Human Race. 50% of the world's population is the Minor Race Graytch. During the Long Night this world was named Khusgulur.
Khusgulur is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Khusgulur is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
History and Background[edit]
The mainworld is a cold and inhospitable planet.
Khusgulur was originally settled during the First Imperium as a mining colony. The surface proved so inhospitable due to the extremely low temperatures that the colony was established deep underground.
During the Long Night the planet was finally mined out, but the Khusgulur no longer had the means to leave. As technology wore out the Khusgulur were forced to adapt physically. Their eyes became more sensitive to light, allowing them to see better in low light conditions. They adapted to living on the native animal and plant life that existed in the tunnels. Claustrophobia was completely bred out of them. They turned to the manufacture of ceramics to replace the metal they no longer had.
When the planet was rediscovered during the Kuriishe Eraki trade expansion, the Khusgulur were almost a race apart. They were experts in the manufacture of ceramics but were now photophobic, agoraphobic, and required certain unique enzymes found only in their food-chain to survive.
Graytch settlers subsequently arrived in large numbers. They have very little to do with the "natives", but due to the dominance of the Thay-tra on the Graytch homeworld, the race is accustomed to sharing a planet without tension.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Khusgulur has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- A key station at the downport is the Starport Agency, the Graytch government body that oversees starport operations, while the Immigration and Trade agencies also have a presence.
- The startown is an extension of the facilities provided for the corporate and starport workers. There is a conglomeration of smaller companies and traders who maintain their own retail and leisure space, and this is often the best place to find cheap accommodation.
World Population (P)[edit]
Khusgulur has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Demographics[edit]
- Graytch, 50% (around four billion people), on the surface
- Morlock (Human), 50% (around four billion people), subterranean
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Ga-ray-cha, the primary language of the Graytch.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Government (G)[edit]
Khusgulur is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
Historical Data: 1105[edit]
In 1105 the Khusgulur are the major manufacturers of ceramics for the whole of Dagudashaag Sector.
Their enzyme dependence makes it impossible for them to colonize other worlds. They have strictly enforced population controls and death penalty for all crimes. Visitors to the world are restricted to the surface starport and may not enter the cities. The starport is primarily for trade and has never been upgraded.
