Kemshigesh is a poor, nonindustrial world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This world has few prospects for economic development.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Laeth Subsector of Gushemege Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- During the Long Night this world was named Digur.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This system is part of the Sidurii Cluster.
System Data[edit]
There is substantial mining of the inner asteroid belt. All inhabited bodies except the main world are military bases.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The world's orbit around Kyan B causes its surface temperature to vary from near-freezing point (when furthest from Kyan A), to a warm 45°C (when nearest to the primary star). The effects might be even more pronounced were it not for the world's seas, which even out some of this heating-cooling process. The world develops dense cloud cover during the high temperature part of its orbit, acting as a shield against direct sunlight.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This is an old Scanian colony. The Solomani conducted the experiments that led to the Scanian variant race on Gaea in Dagudashaag Sector (later known as Akiva), but before they abandoned that planet around -1,800 they transplanted small numbers of Scanians to a couple of other worlds in Dagudashaag and Gushemege. One such colony was established on Kemshigesh, known to Solomani as Digur, a world already teeming with waterlife.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Kemshigesh, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
World Starport[edit]
Kemshigesh has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used here:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Göheimsan: A ceremonial language used by the Scanian culture; apparently descended from 22nd Century Terran Hebrew, Arabic, and Russian.
- Since the reestablishment of contact with the Scanians of Akiva, the local Scanians have assimilated much of their culture, language included.
World Technology Level[edit]
Kemshigesh possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government[edit]
Kemshigesh is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law Level[edit]
Kemshigesh has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
This world follows Scanian legal procedures:
- The Gate Bakamaa deals with all monetary matters
- The Gate Bah'ezi deals with contract law, including marriage contracts.
- The Gate Babha'ti deals with governmental law.
- Criminal law is dealt with by the Court of judgement; trial by three judges.
- In minor matters a person can elect to have his case heard by Hedyo't. This consists of any three Scanians who are considered totally impartial, and any judgement reached is considered legal.
