KE006 Gruneg class Speeder
|KE006 Gruneg class Speeder|
Unpublished, non-canon vehicle design.
|Crew||2 commander/gunner, driver|
|Armament||(x2) Laser Rifles, (x2) TAC missile launchers, x1 Plasma gun, x1 VRF Gauss gun|
|These are deployed on KE5 Cataclysm class Patrol Boats among others.|
The KE006 Gruneg class Speeder, TL-10: The vehicle's crystaliron armor sheaths the chassis to levels of protection equivalent to starship hull metal and better. This design is sealed with life support for the crew and passengers in vacuum and protected forces roles. A stock fusion power plant is installed for movement and to power the plasma gun. There are two magazine fed TAC missile launchers in the turret. The design features a VRF Gauss Gun for infantry suppression and point defense. A pair of laser rifles allow both missile launchers to paint and engage their own targets. The 8 passengers have full life support (proof against CBR/NBC threats) and exit via an airlock to the rear of the vehicle.
Basic Vehicle Characteristics
Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.
|1.||Tonnage|| Total mass loaded: 274.94727 metric tons.
|2.||Crew||x2 crew: driver, commander/gunner|
|4.||Electronics||Equipment: TL-10 Avionics, 5,000 power radio, map box, extensive ECM, thermal image, image enhancement, battle computer, 500 power target acquisition RADAR, 1,000 km laser communicator, full weapon stabilization, sealed environment with life support for 10.|
|5.||Hardpoints|| a fully rotating turret on the chassis deck with full stabilization, 4m wide, 1m tall, 5.25m long,
Two Laser Rifles are mounted in the turret. Each has a 100 shot battery. Their direct fire characteristics are:
VRF Gauss Gun: is turret mounted, stabilized, with TL–10 point defense fire control (rolls 6 dice versus indirect fire missions). It can engage 16 targets with a +4 signature. The weapon has 30,000 rounds of ammunition, enough for 23 fire phases.
The Plasma Gun: It is turret mounted and is automatically spotted when it fires. It has TL–10 direct fire control and can engage one target.
|7.||Defenses|| Laser sensor 6+, 50 prismatic aerosols,
|9.||Fuel||Fuel capacity 3,099.65 liters, the power plant consumes 126 liters/hour, it carries enough for 24.6 hours (... 1 standard day).|
|10.||Cost||Production Cost: Cr. 5,924,371.1|
|11.||Construction Time||2 weeks.|
|12.||Comments||It is not equipped with guidance packages for operator guided missiles.|
There are two 42 kg capacity magazine fed launch tubes in the turret. They use a 20cm HEAP 52 warhead and it takes a crew member to manually reload these missiles if additional rounds are available, or carried in the cargo space. The homing missiles struggle to achieve intercepts against vehicles protected with advanced ECM abilities. The vehicle uses a pair of laser rifles with 100 shot batteries to designate a pair of its own targets and can hand off to deployed infantry to spot and mark targets. A full load of twenty missiles is carried for each launcher in the magazine, detailed below is included in the price.
|Homing HEAP 52, ten carried||24km or 14km +10 speed DM||Cr371|
|Target Designated HEAP 52, twenty carried||24km or 14km +10 speed DM||Cr671|
|IR Follow Up HEAP +8, ten carried||24km or 14km +10 speed DM||Cr471|
History & Background (Dossier)
The KE006 Gruneg class Speeder was designed and manufactured at TL–10, these vehicles are manufactured for the Korsumug Empire in Mavuzog and Theta Borealis Sectors. They have TL–10 point defense fire control systems for the heavy energy weapons. Four vehicles is equivalent to a cavalry platoon of 40 marines. The 32 dismounted marines tend to spot for the target designated missiles to extend their engagement envelop. They use RADAR for longer range target acquisition and the homing missiles are less effective against vehicles with ECM. The weapon load tends to reduce the crews ability to multi-task, and as a result they tend to engage with one weapon system at a time.
