Iur is a world suited to becoming an agricultural world, but with a population between 10,000 and 100,000 sophonts it lacks the capability to produce or process sufficient resources to export its projected agricultural produce. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Zeda Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Amec Trade Protectorate and the Domain of Vland. Iur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. During the Long Night this world was named Miadnir. The Nahuatl name of the world is Tepanec.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Iur is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Iur has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The planet has been eco-engineered to enable thousands of crops to be grown in its soil. The dense atmosphere creates a greenhouse effect which enhances the growth rate. The only side effect to the altered ecosystem has been the atmospheric taint caused by mutated spores. These spores cause migraine-like attacks in Aslan and euphoria in Humans. Filter masks are worn at all times.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Iur has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History and Background[edit]

Feathered Serpent Pharmaceuticals.jpg

Iur is a major manufacturer of pharmaceuticals for Feathered Serpent Pharmaceuticals. While the planet is owned by Feathered Serpent, they have allowed the workers to rule themselves through a legislative council made up of elected guild representatives.

Iur also has acquired a squatter colony consisting of drug addicts and wire heads from throughout the spinward subsectors who are attracted to the free buzz.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Iur has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Iur has a population of 40,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

  • Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
  • Karanga: A Terran-derived language that is a secondary tongue within the Amec Protectorate.
  • Nahuatl: A language with its roots in ancient Terra, now used as the primary language of the Amec Trade Protectorate.
  • Sall: The predominate language of Bolivar (Dagudashaag 0240), spoken as a common second language in the Trade Protectorate.

The planet's Nahuatl name is Tepanec.

Although the current Nahuatl designation is not official, it is included in order to assist travellers who may find it beneficial to use this planetary designation while travelling within the Federation. It is strongly recommended that visitors obtain a good quality translator MemClip prior to entering Federation space. INDISS produce a high quality Galanglic-Nahuatl two-way clip available from all good data libraries, price Cr. 150 rrp.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Iur possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Iur is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law (L)[edit]

Iur has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

  • The wise men known as Tlamatinime act as both lawyer (there are no actual lawyers in Amec Protectorate space) and judge.
