Religious sect of humaniti based in the desert highlands of Menorb (Spinward Marches 1803). The sect is of special interest because of its high stress on personal survival and individual prowess in hand-to-hand combat.
History & Background[edit]
The origins of the sect are obscure. It is believed that the sect dates back to the earliest days of the Menorb colony, several hundred years ago. Wrong-doers were exiled into the upland deserts. Few survived, but those that did seem to have formed the nucleus of the Irklan. Forced to make do without the benefits of technology, the sect has developed a dislike for such, believing that too much technology makes one soft and incapable.
Culture & Society[edit]
The ascetic subculture of the Irklan is a rigorous training ground for body and mind. Members enjoy an awesome reputation throughout the subsector (and beyond) as masters of stealth, unarmed combat, and rigorous control of their bodies and their minds.
