Duel is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Steppe Subsector of Ilelish Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- This world lies on the Great Ilelish Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Duel is a trinary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
- The tertiary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Duel is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Duel has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Duel has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Duel is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Llelish Interstellar, the leading media corporation within Ilelish Sector, maintains facilities and offices on the world.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Duel has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Duel has a population of 10,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Duel possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Duel is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, be direct influence by virtue of controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Duel has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Duel, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
