Degushush has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system supports a population in the hundreds of millions. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Degushush, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This is the homeworld of the Zirduluush, a Minor Race. During the Long Night this world was named Seg.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This world is a member of the Shegimuud Trace.
Degushush is the outermost satellite of the large gas giant Balirur.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Degushush is a hellish heavy-core world with a gravity of 1.881 g and a surface atmospheric pressure of around 33 atm. The atmosphere is composed of hydrogen, methane, ammonia, and small quantities of chlorine, as well as several other trace gases. The soils are made up of a noxious chemical brew mainly consisting of ammonia. The average temperature on the surface is +116ºC.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Degushush is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
- Note that the unusual composition of the planet's core boosts its gravity beyond the standard for its size classification.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Degushush has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Degushush has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Native Sophont: Zirduluush[edit]
Despite the extremely hostile conditions, Degushush has spawned complex native life, including a minor sophont species called the Zirduluush by the Vilani.
History and Background[edit]
The few Humans on the world live in a TL–11 sealed city while the many hundreds of millions of Zirduluush follow a stone-age existence in the outback.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Degushush has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Degushush has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
World Demographics[edit]
- Vilani
- Zirduluush (the vast majority)
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Degushush possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
- This rating refers to the Human community. The Zirduluush are at TL-0.
World Government[edit]
Degushush is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
- This refers to the Human community.
- The Zirduluush Protectorate, occasionally evoked, is essentially a legal fiction.
World Law (L)[edit]
Degushush has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
