The Biumvirate Battle Fleet serves the Biumvirate.

• It is an interstellar navy and fleet organization.

Description (Specifications)

Also know as the Star Navy, the Biumvirate maintains this small fleet for defense. The fleet consists of four task forces. All the ship classes are native-designed and locally-built.

Goals (Mission)

The fleet has adopted a primarily defensive posture; internal security and commerce protection are important. They want to avoid open warfare with any of the more powerful neighboring empires (e.g. the Trelyn Domain and the Domain of Alntzar).

Strategy & Doctrine (Operations)

Technology and shipbuilding facilities limit the fleet to smaller classes of warships. Maintenance costs are a burden, and so the size of the fleet is limited by current budget levels. As a result they are not equipped to handle enemy ships of the line. They can harass and raid, but must withdraw and delay when enemy forces mass.

Small raids are preferred to massive assaults. The economy of force is important.

History & Background (Dossier)

As each planet was added to the Biumvirate, steps were taken to ensure there was sufficient ground forces to facilitate a harmonious acculturation. Whatever upgrades could be made to improve defenses and starport facilities were a top priority. As soon as possible ships were built using local system resources, at the native technology level, to protect the newest arrivals to the fold.
