Bartillion is a rich, nonindustrial world.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Corelian Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Bartillon is a quintenary system.

  • It consists of two separate star systems, a trinary system and a binary system lying around 32,000 AU (0.5 light years) apart.

Trinary System

  • The primary is a blue-white main sequence named Mansha.
  • The secondary is a tiny white dwarf stellar remnant.
  • The tertiary is a yellow main sequence.

Binary System

  • The primary is a yellow-white main sequence named Shulu.
  • The secondary is an orange main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the Habitable Zone of Shulu A, the primary star of the binary system.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Bartillion is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Bartillion has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Bartillion has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Extensive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Bartillion has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Bartillion has a population of 1 million.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Bartillion possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World Government (G)[edit]

Bartillion is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

World Military[edit]

  • No information yet available.

World Law (L)[edit]

Bartillion has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -2 (fair)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -2 (very unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
  • Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
