Description[edit]

The Antares Pact has an estimated population of 81 billion, predominantly Vargr, in fifty systems across four subsectors, on the border of Meshan and Mendan Sectors. It shares a short border with the Third Imperium worlds in Antares Sector and another with the Sarkan Constellation in Mendan Sector, while maintaining a frontier several parsecs deep between it and the Julian Protectorate. The longest shared borders in modern times are with the Opposition Alliance and the First Fleet of Dzo in Meshan Sector.

This location makes the Antares Pact the most rim-trailing Vargr polity that is not part of the Julian Protectorate, placing it at a three-way junction with the Protectorate and the Imperium.

History & Background[edit]

As is the case with other Vargr polities, the precise history and age of the Antares Pact is difficult to determine, as both will vary based on the source. It is widely believed that the Pact dates to the second century of the Third Imperium as an outfall of the Julian War, but the Imperial and Julian records for the region are spotty and often difficult to access. Imperial historians generally agree that a polity has been present in this location with roughly the same membership since the late 100s, but disagree on whether the modern Pact has any relation to that first state. Vargr historians consulted on this question present a similar range of answers.

It is known that the Antares Pact -- or at least its current incarnation -- absorbed several smaller nations, like the Principality of Neniis.
