Ahetaowa is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Aslan sophonts located in the Ihearu Subsector of Ealiyasiyw Sector.

Description (Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Ahetaowa is the innermost planet of a close binary system, and revolves around its primaries once every 499 standard days.

  • A distant M4V companion with its own complement of worlds is located 300 AU away.
Ahetaowa has three stars in the star system.

2604 Ahetaowa (Non-Aligned)

Starport: Class IV (Kheark).

Diameter: 5,643 miles (9,000 km). Gravity: 0.56g.
Atmosphere: Very thin oxygen-nitrogen.
Hydrographics: 52%.
Climate: Chilly.
Population: 400,000 Ahetaowa, 10,000 Aslan.
Government: Clan/Tribal.
Control Level: 2.
Tech Level: 10.
World Trade Number: 4.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Ahetaowa has one moon, A'ahels, an airless rock ball just over 600 miles in diameter that revolves around Ahetaowa once every 10.76 standard days.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ahetaowa has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The native Ahetaowa are adapted to this environment.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ahetaowa has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]

One of the planet's landmasses, the northernmost continent, has been named Eiekhaor by the Aslan. On the equator is another continent, Hrekhas, which to the southeast borders a series of islands.

There are small Ahetaowa colonies on Eiekhaor and some of the outlying islands, but most live on Hrekhas.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Seieakh clan contacted the Ahetaowa in 730. Favourable trade relations were established, and the Kheark starport was completed by 801.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Ahetaowa has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • The starport, controlled by the Seieakh clan, is named Kheark by the Aslan.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ahetaowa

Ahetaowa has a population of 400,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • Most of the population consists of native Ahetaowa.

Urbanization[edit]

Most of the population live on the continent of Hrekhas, near the equator. The Seieakh clan starport, Kheark, is also based on Hrekhas. There are Ahetaowa colonies on the northern continent of Eiekhaor and some of the outlying islands. Above the mid-latitudes, a few crewed facilities exist, such as mines and factories. The climate in these regions is harsh enough year round that special equipment is required for an Ahetaowa to survive, given the freezing conditions, lack of rainfall, and fierce seasonal storms.

World Languages[edit]

The primary means of communication between native Ahetaowa are telepathy and a musical language based on a variety of harmonic scales. However, most Ahetaowa can communicate in Trokh, for the benefit of their Aslan trade partners.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ahetaowa possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ahetaowa has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law (L)[edit]

Ahetaowa has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

As violence and private property are both generally absent from Ahetaowa society, its laws mostly exist to facilitate fair trade. Disputes are resolved by the most senior members of all aikho. Minor offenses are punished by a period of isolation from the community. The rare major offenses result in all community members voting on a response. Deliberate violence to Ahetaowa or their goods usually leads to psychotherapy with the aid of psionic probing, or exile -- possibly to an inhospitable locale -- as the ultimate punishment.

World Economy[edit]

The Aslan provide resources from the outer system and other trade goods from the Hierate, while the Ahetaowa export high-quality robotic and computer equipment, art (typically recordings and sculptures), and pharmaceuticals.

User interfaces for native devices are highly standardized, and rely mainly on telekinetic or ciliary manipulation for use. Devices produced for export have secondary voice recognition controls.

World Culture[edit]

The aesthetic tradition of utaorl, in which both ideas and artifacts need to be robust yet elegant and economical, is popular on Ahetaowa. Utaorl's main tenets are based around ideals of symmetry or balance and subtlety. For example, a mine or factory shouldn't intrude on the local environment; the workings should be buried or concealed.
