Velpare serves as the Subsector Capital. The Count of Frethe, an influential noble in the Moot, holding thousands of proxy votes, hails from here.

• The scout base in the system is small, but is an important node in the Xboat network, overseeing operations in a five-parsec radius.

Pre-Third Imperium, the Battle of Velpare was fought here.

World Starport (St)

Velpare has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

• There is an associated Imperial Naval Base.

Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)

Velpare has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Culture

Velpare has long been known throughout Core Sector for its fine cuisine. The chefs of the world cook up a variety of delicacies, all prepared from the native plant and animal life. One spice in particular, the Varinte plant, is highly prized for its sweet, pungent flavor, and can be bought as far away as Vland (Vland 1717).
