Description / Specifications

The Fast Shuttle is a multi-role craft used in a variety of circumstances. Similar designs have been in use from the time the Distant Fringe was first settled.

• The vessel is a TL 8 design.

Hull

The Fast Shuttle is constructed using a 90-dTon hull built in a generally cone-shaped configuration. The hull is fully streamlined.

• Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. Sections of the ship can be isolated in the event of an emergency.
• The hull includes internal grav plates and inertial compensators. All accessible sections of the hull have life support.

Engineering

The vessel mounts a maneuver-3 drive and a power plant 3, giving performance of 3G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 3. There is fuel tankage of 3 dTons, giving the power plant 5 weeks duration.

Main Section

The vessel is equipped with a computer model/1 and a pilot’s acceleration couch: there is an additional cockpit couch. There are fourty passenger acceleration couches and eight small staterooms: six of these are designated as crew quarters, while the remaining two serve as a kitchen and a fresher respectively. Cargo capacity amounts to 30 dTons.

• The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a basic sensor array, and an avionics suite.

The Fast Shuttle requires 6 crew: a Pilot and 5x Passenger Stewards

Weapons

The ship has one triple sandcaster turret.

Cost

The basic cost of the vessel is MCr49.260.

• The ship is a standard design. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable.
• If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces their price to MCr39.408.

History / Background

A relatively low-tech design used throughout the Distant Fringe. Its speed and the quality of onboard services make it a popular choice as an interface craft. The design is representative and a large number of variants exist, particularly with regard to the allotted weapons systems, onboard electronics, and the fit out of internal spaces.
