Querion is an agricultural world.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It is a member of the Zhodani Consulate in the Province of Iadr Nsobl, in the Querion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This world has a Zhodani Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is the home system of a Jovianoid species called the Sheol, who inhabit one of the system's gas giants.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stars
Querion has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting at 0.97 AU
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- Erioque UWP F543668-9, a chilly tundra world orbing at at 1.41 AU, is the site of a major Military Base.
- x4 gas giants.
- The second of these is a large gas giant called Sheol that has native Jovianoid lifeforms.
Mainworld Data
It is protected by a military base that takes up all of Querion’s sister planet, Erioque.
Mainworld Size (S)
Querion is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Querion has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Querion has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms
One of the gas giants in the system is named Sheol and is the homeworld of the minor alien race also known as the Sheol.

History & Background (Dossier)
Querion serves as the Zhodani capital of the subsector.
Querion’s main industry is the bureaucracy of the subsector, with a large number of ambassadors based here before going to the various neutral worlds. Imperial agencies claim that the Tavrchedl' (Thought Police) keep a large contingent of agents here.
Sheol
Commercial ships normally refueled at the system's larger gas giant, so Sheol was rarely visited. For centuries, those rare starship crews who had been there relayed stories of strange, vast creatures sighted within the atmosphere. While gas giant atmosphere-dwellers had been previously observed elsewhere in the Spinward Marches, e.g. at Komesh in the Boughene system, and at least one starfaring gas giant race existed (the Jgd-il-Jagd), no-one expected to find a civilization on Sheol.
Sheol has an estimated population of 10 billion "messengers" and several hundred million "squid mothers", though exact figures for both Sheol races are uncertain.
During the Fourth Frontier War, the Imperial Navy frontier cruiser Haunting Thunder was lost while attempting refuel at Sheol. Three vacc-suited Human crewmen were recovered by the natives, and first contact was made.
World Government
The Zhodani Consulate maintains itself through a variety of taxes on goods and services. Each council -- planetary or higher -- has the authority to levy a tax on gross income to support services like hospitals, emergency and transport services, or the Tavrchedl'.

World Law
Three broad categories of crime are recognized by the Zhodani Consulate: inadvertent, incited, and insane. The concept of premeditated crime for personal gain fits under the insane heading.
- Inadvertent crime is an unintentional violation or infraction of the law, resulting from inattention. For minor cases the usual punishment is a small fine.
- Incited crime is an infraction of a law brought about by another, often resulting from an overreaction to inadvertent crime or misfortune. The solution is re-education.
- Insane crime is a general heading for most major crimes against property or individuals.
