Vignemale is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a part of the Third Reformed French Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation, located in the Euxene Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

System Data

System Primary is a G3 star, relatively early in its lifetime at around 2B years old. It contains a relatively high metal content, indicating a 5th generation star.

The Vignemale main world is a standard rocky world on toward the colder side of the life zone. As a result of its position, it is currently in a ice age, with polar ice caps and glaciers extending down to its 45th parallels. This ice mass has lowered the sea levels to the point that some small land masses are exposed. The dense atmosphere is a Nitrogen-Oxygen mix with relatively high levels of carbon dioxide. It is likely that without this mix, the temperatures would have dropped further, resulting in an ice world.

The main world has a 300km length captured asteroid as a moon, with an ovaloid geometry.

Closer to the primary, there is a gas giant at the 0.7AU orbit with several larger moons.

In the 2-4AU zone, there is a denser than average planetoid belt.

An exceptionally large ice giant is found in the 25AU gap with at least 2 large moons. Additional science surveys are recommended due to its unusual nature.

Mainworld Geography & Topography

As a result of its position, it is currently in a ice age, with polar ice caps and glaciers extending down to its 45th parallels. This ice mass has lowered the sea levels to the point that some small land masses are exposed. As a relatively young world, it is active geologically with active vulcanism and mountainous land masses.

The dense atmosphere is a Nitrogen-Oxygen mix with relatively high levels of carbon dioxide. It is likely that without this mix, the temperatures would have dropped further, resulting in an ice world.

The oceans themselves are deep, averaging 6km in depth with considerable variation. They contain expected salt distributions and dissolved metals, and are slightly acidic due to dissolved carbon dioxide.

The crust has few exposed mineral veins, and most are submerged. Orbital scans detect lower than expected concentrations of heavy metal deposits.

World Starport

Vignemale has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

TBD possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.

World Government

TBD has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
