Ikiir is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ikiir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Mishsha Ka.
Astrography and planetology
Ikiir is a member of the Gvadh Cluster. The naval base hosts elements of the 186th Fleet.
The atmosphere is primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide and great care must be taken to prevent the methane from mixing with the atmosphere within the habitats as a single spark could cause It to ignite. As a result, the long term inhabitants of Ikiir have evolved a culture where open flame is considered a unique symbol of life and is worshiped in deep temples far beneath the surface.
History and background
Ikiir was once a major chemical extraction site but was abandoned during the collapse of the Rule of Man.
The S'mrii ConSentiency annexed the planet in –4 and established a major research facility with the prime objective of working on low temperature superconductors. Over the centuries the research base expanded into a major manufacturing site; then in 677 new technologies rendered the entire manufactory complex obsolete.
Point of Interest: Superconductor Research Center
A large research facility has been built on Ikiir with the prime objective of working on low temperature superconductors.
