System Data

Chamlac-Thele System

The primary is Chamlac, a yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.994 Sols, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.366 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. (IVab) the Thele-Sylus binary planet system orbits within the habitable zone: Thele is designated the mainworld. The outer system consists of (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (IX) a vacuum worldlet. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Manasar Subsystem

The companion is Manasar, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Chamlac at 270 AU (orbital position (XIII), 40 billion km) and with an orbital period of 4436 years. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) a sparse icy planetoid belt lies within the habitable zone. (II) a vacuum iceworld forms the outer system. The iceworld retains no satellites.

Sylus-Thele Binary Planets

The habitable zone is occupied by the Sylus-Thele binary planet system. The two worlds orbit Chamlac at a mean distance of 0.95 AU and have an orbital period of 353 days 5 hours.

(IVa) Sylus

(IVa) Sylus is the major component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and has a UWP of F9B2413-9. Sylus and Thele orbit one another at a mean separation of 343,000 km and have an orbital period around their barycenter of 18 days 9 hours: Sylus is tidally locked to Thele. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Sylus has a diameter of 13725 km, a density of 6.12 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.19 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Corrosive, with a mean surface pressure of 68.65 bar and a composition of 93% carbon dioxide, 6% nitrogen, and 1% sulfur dioxide, argon, water vapour, carbon monoxide and other trace gases. Approximately 18% of the surface is covered in seas and lakes of superheated water kept liquid by the extreme atmospheric pressure: average tidal ranges exceed 1m. Mean surface temperature: 243°C (the boiling point of water at 68 atmospheres is approximately 284°C). The atmosphere is violent and extreme weather systems driven by the star scour the surface. The climate is seasonal.

Sylus geography and topography

Total surface area: 592 million km², Land surface area: 486 million km², Water surface area: 106 million km².

Mainworld Data

(IVb) Thele

(IVb) Thele is the minor component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and is designated the mainworld. Sylus and Thele orbit one another at a mean separation of 343,000 km and have an orbital period around their barycenter of 18 days 9 hours: Thele is tidally locked to Sylus. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Thele has a diameter of 10,384 km, a density of 5.43 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.80 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.82 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% argon, water vapour, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 74% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1m. Mean surface temperature: 18°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans cross the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Mainworld geography and topography

Total surface area: 339 million km², Water surface area: 251 million km², Land surface area: 88 million km².

Native Lifeforms

Thele has extensive native life.

History & Background / Dossier

No information yet available.

World Starport

Thele has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

Thele possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government

Thele is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Military

UWP: B667786-9 TL–9, Port Capacity 80,000 dTons. It has a Military Base with the following troop strength:

Troop Strength: Army: 150 Battalions organized into three Corps, Marines: 15 Battalions in three Marine Regiments

The military use locally manufactured Thele Class Tracked ATVs.

The System Defense Fleet consists of:
