Ikiir is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ikiir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Mishsha Ka.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Ikiir is a member of the Gvadh Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Atmosphere[edit]
The atmosphere is primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide, and great care must be taken to prevent the methane from mixing with the atmosphere within the habitats as a single spark could cause it to ignite. As a result, the long-term inhabitants of Ikiir have evolved a culture where open flame is considered a unique symbol of life and is worshiped in deep temples far beneath the surface.
History and Background[edit]
Ikiir was once a major chemical extraction site but was abandoned during the collapse of the Rule of Man.
The S'mrii ConSentiency annexed the planet in -4 and established a major research facility with the prime objective of working on low temperature superconductors. Over the centuries the research base expanded into a major manufacturing site; then in 677 new technologies rendered the entire manufactory complex obsolete.
World Starport[edit]
Ikiir has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated Imperial Naval Base, hosting elements of the 186th Fleet.
Point of Interest: Superconductor Research Center[edit]
A large research facility has been built on Ikiir with the prime objective of working on low temperature superconductors.
