A Device is a thing made or adapted for a particular purpose, especially a piece of mechanical or electronic equipment.
- Devices are made by technological sophonts at TL-1 or greater.
- Proto-Sophonts are unable to make tools making tools so they are unable to construct devices.

While the connotation of the term is that device are quite complex, that isn't necessarily true. Many devices are quite simple, not employing complex mechanical mechanisms or even electricity.
