The Empty Reach is a Shadow Rift located within Kalash Sector, within the Empty Stars.

The Empty Reach measures around 30 parsecs coreward-rimward and has a mean width of around 10 parsecs.

The Reach was first charted by vessels from the Last Armada sometime around 2255AD. Its exact position and dimensions were plotted by the University of Tal Varisa Deep Sky Program between 5520AD and 5550AD.
It is considered likely that the Last Armada crossed the Empty Reach towards its coreward end, though the exact process that was used to achieve this is unknown. Some academics propose that the Reach was traversed at sublight speeds, though it is considered more likely that tankers and fuel caches were utilised to create a temporary jump-bridge.
