The Alejia of Marinagua (Theta Borealis 1517) are a technologically competent Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Alejia are flexible, long necked, long-limbed, and are described as never still or constantly moving.
Along an Alejia's back is a series of three humps. The hump nearest the head houses the brain beneath a thick skull layer. The other two humps are water-storage organs.
Their six-digit hands have two opposable thumbs.
Psychology[edit]
The Alejia exhibit recognized characteristics of intelligence:
- Conceptual thought, including abstract language.
- Social structure, including social organization.
- Tool use, allowing environmental manipulation.
Alejia psychology is driven by factors common to many sophonts:
- Acquisition (stemming from the need to gather adequate nutrition),
- Preservation (derived from the need to continue their personal existence), and
- Perpetuation (the urge to continue the species).
Reproduction[edit]
The Alejia are hermaphroditic. They lay leathery-shelled eggs in concealed caves and holes (or specially built caches in the civilized territories).
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Suspicious of each other and actively hostile to outsiders, Alejja usually hide rather than fight if they don't have a 2-to-1 advantage. They are hoarders, with excellent memories for the hundreds of places they choose to hide their treasures. Cache-invasion, no matter how inadvertent, results in violence. As of 1105, their society is in the grip of an apparent breakdown, with most areas outside fortified strongholds now essentially lawless.
Astrography[edit]
This race is primarily located in the following areas:
Homeworld[edit]
The homeworld of this race is:
- Marinagua (Theta Borealis 1517)

- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
