Mongoose Traveller es un reglamento para jugar Traveller que fue publicado por primera vez en el año 2008. Las reglas fueron diseñadas para recuperar el sabor de los días del sistema Traveller Clásico, utilizando un reglamento simple (los 2d6) pero actualizando mecánicas para no ignorar los treinta años de evolución del diseño de los juegos de rol.
Nos referimos a la primera edición del reglamento de Mongoose Traveller. Para la segunda edición del sistema por favor mirar el Nuevo Traveller, que fue publicado por primera vez el año 2017.

Descripción (Especificaciones)
Fieles a su palabra, el reglamento sigue el diseño de Traveller Clásico, utilizando los 2d6 para la mayoría de mecánicas de creación de personajes y resolución de las tiradas. Fue actualizado con una nueva tabla de eventos para los fallos de supervivencia durante el proceso de creación del personaje. También incluye un sistema de resolución de tareas (similar a MegaTraveller) para ayudar a resolver ciertos combates y otras situaciones interesantes.
Línea Temporal y Ambientación
El reglamento fue escrito para cubrir varios períodos temporales y ambientaciones, pero la mayoria del material se centra en la era clásica, con una fecha interna establecida en el 1105, anterior a la 5ª Guerra Fronteriza.

When the Mongoose Publishing announcement was made in August 2007, there was some controversy in the Traveller community regarding the fate of the other, then current, Traveller publishers. Over the course of a few weeks, and many different discussion forums, it was revealed that Marc had decided to let the official Traveller licenses for QuikLink Interactive, Avenger Enterprises, and Comstar Games expire, most of which would expire in 2008 or 2009. The licenses for Steve Jackson Games and Far Future Enterprises would remain.
Mongoose Publishing announced the publication of the Mongoose Traveller Main Rulebook in April 2008.
Meta-history & Background
Mongoose's plans include republishing many of the older Classic Traveller books, updated for the new rules. The list of currently published books has several of these titles.
