Kedol is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- It requires significant imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Xelan Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- More than 90% of the population is made up of Jellyfish
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world is a part of the False Bridge Trace.
System Data
Polder-Kedol System
The primary is Polder, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.21 Sols, a mass of 1.04 Sols, and a diameter of 1.433 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum inner world, and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital position (III) is empty. (IV) Kedol orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) a ringed large gas giant, (VII) a vacuum iceworld, (VIII) a small gas giant, and (IX) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(IV) Kedol
(IV) Kedol is designated the mainworld. It orbits Polder at a mean distance of 0.88 AU (131.7 million km), just within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 295 days 16 hours and a rotation period of 25.5 hours. The axial tilt is 19 degrees. Kedol has a diameter of 14,641 km, a density of 5.22 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.08 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 3.62 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the extremely high atmospheric pressure. Approximately 75% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 24°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 673 million km², Water surface area: 505 million km², Land surface area: 168 million km².
- breathing the high pressure air for short periods without artificial assistance causes severe headaches, tremors, drowsiness and decreased neural activity. Prolonged exposure causes nitrogen narcosis and oxygen toxicity.
System Importance (Ix)

Native Lifeforms
Polder-Kedol System
Kedol, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Kedol has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Kedol possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay, the printing press, long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Water wheels and wind power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding beasts and creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World government
Kedol has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
