The Hlatoi are an alien native to Quantum (Zarushagar 1822).

Physiology

The Hlatoi weigh around 200.0 kg and measure 3.0 meters from nose to tail. Covered in downy fur, they are warm blooded, of two sexes and bear their young, called Enoi in their language, live. Senses are about the same as with Humans.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Hlatoi lead a pastoral existence in the forested regions of their home world. Tech level was rated at 5 upon first contact by Vilani traders and has remained at about that level since.

Today, the Hlatoi live much as their pre-contact ancestors did in their native forests, taking little interest in the continuing Civil War.

Very little is conclusively known about the Hlatoi society and culture.

Hlatoi Social Organization

Hlatoi form pacts, or groups, of about ten to twelve members composed of immediate and extended family. The groups stay together with grown children sometimes leaving to start new pacts. Groups of pacts gather into unions which are analogous to human tribes.

Hlatoi Government & Law

Government, where it exists, is by custom and public consensus. The Hlatoi birth rate is low in comparison to humans, so they have never had the problems attendant with over-poulation. Violence is rare among members of the race as they never really developed those tendencies.

Very little is conclusively known about Hlatoi language.

Hlatoi Calendar

It is unknown how the Hlatoi form a calendar or track time although it is assumed that Hlatoi timekeeping is based upon the cycles and periods of their homeworld, Quantum (Zarushagar 1822)|.

The Hlatoi have been known to trade with the Vilani in the past and maintain a technological level of expertise of TL-5 with no signs of technical advancement. The Hlatoi earned offworld credit, in the past, by acting as tour guides and safari leaders on their native world and by cultivating naturally-occurring plants for export that were desired by Vilani traders.
