RSS Pe1517 received Signal Source Pestilent Sector 1517.

Details / Specifications

An anomalous signal originating from a binary system centered on a yellow main sequence star. The signal is infrequent, unmodulated, and in the 1-2 GHz range.

History

RSS Pe1517 was detected by the University of Tal Varisa Deep Sky Program. It became public knowledge following publication of the "Where The Stars End" Astrographic Survey in 5550AD. The signal may be being transmitted by a currently unknown advanced sophont NIL or it may simply be a natural phenomenon.

If the signal does originate from a sophont source, a number of different explanations regarding its meaning have been proposed:

  1. It is an indicator of the presence of the League of Asclepius.
  2. The signal is a Voyager Beacon, emplaced by the Slavers.
  3. Assist Us. A cry for help, though it is probably already too late.
  4. Stay Away.
  5. An offer of assistance to those who need it
  6. A warning to others.
