Kaa is a poor, low-population desert hellworld, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

The primary is H'sakhaa, a yellow subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.295 Sols, a mass of 0.586 Sols, and a diameter of 1.288 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a sparse stony planetoid belt – orbital position (II) is empty. (III) Aak'tha, an exotic atmosphere bigworld, orbits within the habitable zone: (IIIa) Kaa is its only satellite and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a vacuum worldlet and (V) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Only Aak'tha retains a satellite.

(III) Aak'tha has a UWP of Y9A1000-0 and orbits H'sakhaa at a mean distance of 0.68 AU (101.7 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 267 days 13 hours and a rotation period of 51 hours. The axial tilt is 12 degrees. Aak'tha has a diameter of 10,347 km, a density of 6.19 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.91 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 0.68 bar and a composition of 63% nitrogen, 33% carbon dioxide, 2% azane, 1% carbon monoxide, and 1% argon, sulfur dioxide, water vapor, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 8% of the surface is covered in lakes of aqua ammonia, the result of water vapor condensing onto the surface and reacting with the azane in the air. Mean surface temperature: 67°C. The atmosphere is active and large weather systems, driven by the star, work across the globe: continent-sized electrical storms are common. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

Kaa has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions.
