Senlis is a nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

• Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
• It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
• This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the massive extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
• It is a member of the Senlis Foederate in the Pax Rulin Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.

Mainworld Size (S)

Senlis is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Senlis has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Senlis has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

The only body of water on the surface is the Great Lake, an expanse of brackish, tainted water.

Fauna found here include erops, small, rat-like creatures that wind their way through both city streets and wilderness.

Senlis is a non-industrial Hellworld. Over 70% of the planet is utterly uninhabitable without significant technological aid.

World Starport

Senlis has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

• Senlis Station is the primary civilian spaceport in the Foederate. Civilian access is limited. The station shares an orbital path with Senlis' primary naval yard, the Black Bay.

World Population (P)

Senlis has a population of 5,000,000 sophonts (millions).

• This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Urbanization

The only body of water on the surface of Senlis is the Great Lake, an expanse of brackish, tainted water. Most of the world's population dwell along great artificial canals that surround the Great Lake.

• At the head of each canal network is a huge water-purification plant controlled by the rulers of Senlis.
• There are nine of these canal networks, and at the head of each is a huge water-purification plant.
• For centuries the Senlis government has used drugs added to the water supply to sedate or manipulate the emotions of the population according to political need.

Senlis possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government

Senlis is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

The rulers of Senlis control access to drinkable water, and social status is defined by the freshness of one's water. Higher-class citizens live further upriver.

There are a few hardy hermits living in the wilderness; these outcasts are free of the drugs that enslave the rest of the population, and considered criminals by the Senlis government.

World Economy

The Baraccai Technum trading cartel has appointed a Factor to the mainworld.
