- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Dalesabandagh Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Circa -2355, politics in the region were tense. Jealous of the world's independence when their own systems had accepted client status with the Zhodani Consulate, disgruntled factions began targeting Nikopelenos, and other worlds left outside the Zhodani sphere. Nikopelenos was hit hard by high explosives on three occasions. Using new clients Zeyiri, Thapek, and Raletela as bases, the Zhodani cracked down on the region and put a stop to the attacks.
By 1105, Nikopelenos has a population of only around 5,000, though it maintains a B-class starport.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Nikopelenos has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Nikopelenos has a population of 5,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
World Government (G)[edit]
Nikopelenos is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Nikopelenos possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Culture[edit]
The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.
