Ngolfarg Sprawl

An astrographical feature located on the border between Gashikan Sector and Trenchans Sector.

A large main, the sprawl was once controlled by a sizeable Vargr polity, the Ngolfarg Massive. This polity was destroyed by the Gashikan Empire during the Gashikan Race Wars, and Humans colonised in their place. Some of the worlds of the Sprawl were incorporated into the Second Empire of Gashikan, and now the Third, but the region is little favoured by mainstream Gashikan culture, associated still with the hated Vargr. The continued use of the designation "sprawl" is implicitly damning to the orderly Gashikan mindset.

The Trae Aggregation is located on a coreward spur of the Sprawl. Here is the quiet refuge of the last Kokasha Vargr.

The Ngolfarg Sprawl can be reached at jump-2 from the great Nudashiir Lagani. It also has jump-2 access to the Argiishdu Loop.

History and Background[edit]

Much of the Sprawl, particularly its trailing worlds, was controlled by the Ngolfarg Massive, a powerful Vargr state that came into conflict with the Second Empire of Gashikan during the reign of Queen Caitrin. For decades the Empire was systematically raided by Vargr corsairs who used the Ngolfarg Massive as a staging ground, provoking Queen Caitrin into engineering raids of her own against "pirate bases" deep within the Sprawl. In -750, aggressive Vargr corsairs raided four Gashikan colonies, killing every inhabitant, and Caitrin decided to move against the Massive. It took eighty years of bitter fighting, but the Empire of Gashikan finally destroyed its foe entirely.
