Mara Khan is a poor, low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.

  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • 100% of the population is composed of Epukish.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Mara Khan is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a red main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red subdwarf.
Mara Khan has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mara Khan is a Twilight Zone World.

  • One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
  • In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.

Twilight Zone World Horizon Arid 04.jpg

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Mara Khan is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Mara Khan has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
  • Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
  • Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
  • The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
  • The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Mara Khan has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport[edit]

Mara Khan has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Epukish Sophont Species.jpg

Mara Khan has population of 800 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The population consists of Epukish.

World Technology Level[edit]

Mara Khan possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government[edit]

Mara Khan is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Military[edit]

A battalion of marines is assigned as a garrison of the starport. Battalions rotate and serve four years on station before being rotated home. They are expected to bring their families. Any Moralitate member world can be called upon to provide these forces. As a result, the quality and equipment level of the garrison forces can vary substantially from deployment to deployment.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (Abundant)
  • Labor: 1 (Tens)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (Extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: +0 (Average)

Trade Data[edit]

Importance -2 (Unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 5 (Harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 1 (Extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 6 (Very distinct)
  • Symbols: 8 (Somewhat abstract)
